Wow! how much damage can 3 days do…………… A LOT!!! Please tell me its not just me. I started the Christmas festivities very sprightly, calm and excited. I had 3 days off (in terms of nutrition). For those of you that don’t know….in April 2020 I am competing in my first ever Female Body Building Competition. So I had a very long kist of all the foods I have bene craving for the last 4 months that just haven’t been possible to fit into my cheat meals. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t sit in a corner stuffing a box of quality street (i’m not knocking that), but I did eat A LOT, in a very short space of time.

So I went from feeling sprightly to somewhat resembling being 8 months regnant with quads! My tummy hurt, it was hard and ¬†couldn’t move. If I am honest I am still not feeling 100% and as I write this I know I need to get out and do my daily cardio before it gets dark.

Why does this happen? basically our digestive system cant cope. Imagine your intestines as the M25 and the traffic is your food. When you eat regularly and fuel yourself with healthy easily to digest foods and wash it down with lots of healthy water you, like the traffic flow nicely. However, start to overload with a fry up for breakfast washed down with your finest Moet, followed by more bubbles and nibbles for present opening, followed by a few aperitif chocolates. Then the meal…. starters, all the turkey and veg, sausage, bacon, stuffing and don’t forget the yorkie puds and the gravy washed down with a nice pinot noir. A little rest to pull the crackers and see if you can squeeze in seconds….then roll out the Desserts. Freshly baked mince pies, chocolate log and the all important brandy soaked Christmas Pudding with more wine and finished off with chocolates, liquors and some posh coffee. The intestines cant take it! traffic is at a stand still. The food just hasn’t had time to digest to allow for the next mouthful so we go into complete intestine grid lock, and hence the food baby appears at a fully developed ready pop 8 months!. The overload on carbs then sends us into a food coma, so we miss the queens speech and next thing…….its 6pm. You guessed it, time for tea! And we repeat this process……..

I don’t know about you but my body needs a detox! So today, I have emptied my entire fridge into a black sack. No more triffle, cheese cake, cheese, pate (the bubble I have made into burgers and freezed), everything has gone. I will spend the next 7 days detoxing (this basically means feeling my body with lots of water, no sugar or fat) a getting back to feeling like me again. Then we hit my 30 days to healthy living plan to get on track for losing 10kg by 1st February 2020! Is it going to be easy… NO, but 100% ¬†its going to be worth it.
